Creating Content Depends on the Type of Marketing

Creating content depends on the type of marketing you plan to use it for. The following is an email I sent a client explaining the difference between Email Marketing, Press Release Marketing and Article Marketing from a content ctreating viewpoint. Hope you find it useful:

Press Release Marketing

Email marketing is very different from Press Release Marketing. And Article Marketing is different from both. Press release services like PR Web and BusinessWire have connections with news services like Associated Press, newspaper and magazine editors, online news hubs like Google News. Many reporters subscribe to press release services so they can scan the latest press releases to see if there’s anything relevant to their readership coming over the wires.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is just sending information to your subscribers. Now there’s nothing wrong with sending your press release information to your email subscribers but press releases are written in third person and an email should be written in first person.

Article Marketing

Lastly, EzineArticles.com is an article directory for posting articles on whatever subject you choose. There are actually hundreds of articles directories but only a handful that are big enough (and good enough) to be worth your time. GoArticles and ArticlesBase are two other good ones. There are a few more. Most good article sites have strict policies on what they will accept and will review and approve or reject your article. Also, unlike a press release, they don’t distribute your article. They simply post it on their site where the search engines can find it and people can come to their site and search for articles on particular subjects or by particular authors. They also will not accept press releases.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t rewrite a press release into an email and send it out and rewrite it into an article and post it on an article directory, thereby taking one piece of information and multiplying it’s effectiveness.
