Blog commenting is an extremely effective way to show your site up in the search engine rankings. But to be effective at it, you have to do it rights.

I have an advantage over most people when it comes to blog commenting. I have a BA degree in Technical Communications with a minor in Creative Writing. But the advantage is not what you think.

It’s not because I learned how to be a great writer. No. My advantage is that being in creative writing classes and writer’s groups, I had to learn now to critique other people’s work.

The quickest way to get kicked out of a writer’s group is to either write lame comments such as “Great story, really liked it” or to write overly harsh comments tearing a person’s work apart. Either of those will also get your comment deleted off of a blog.

The secret of successful blog commenting is to offer “Constructive Criticism.” Alsway open your comment iwth a postive comment on something you agree with or something you like about the post. Be specific. Something like:

“I agree that solar power is a viable alternative to nuclear power.”

Then add your argument or addition to your blog comment:

“However, I think small solar power units on homes is a more economical option that large scale solar power plants.”

Give a quick closing statement and you’re done:

“I have a post on my blog that compares these two options.” or

“Perhaps you could write a post comparing these two options.”

then when you’re done, fill in the name section with a keyword phrase from the blog, page or website page you are linking to. Fill in the URL of the page you want to link to and use an email address that has a Gravatar attached to it.

There’s one other secret to successful blog commenting.  Like any other form of linkbuilding or website promotion, you must do it often and regularly. I do it 2-4 times a week and I leave at least 3-5 comments each day I do it.

When I first stared, this took me a minimum of an hour a day. I used Google Alerts to find the blogs, then I had to dig through them to find blogs that were actually right for me.  I would then find that some of them didn’t accept comments or were closed to more blog comments.

Despite the effectiveness of blog commenting, this got old fast. So I looked for a blog comment tool that would take the tedium out of blog commenting and leave me just to do the comments. I found two blog comment software packages that impressed me. One was Comment Hut, a pure blog commenting tool; and the other was LotusJump, a linkbuilding software that let’s you diversify your links in addition to blog comments.

Comment hust works really fast and easy. You just plug in your keyword phrase for your blog and it goes out and finds any blog, aritlce or web 2.0 property that allows comments and uses your keyword phrase so you know the content is related.

The the best part? You can tell it no sites or blogs below a certain page rank. I have it set for a minimum page rank of 3. this software is fast, easy and cheap. Check out this blog commenting software.

LotusJump is similar in that it goes out and finds blogs, articles and videos foryou to comment on. But it does a lot more. It also finds online directories for you to list your blog or site on. It finds places where you can post content at and or site on. It finds places where you can post contnet at, and it finds forums related to your topic for you to join.
