Free Publicity on the Web is Key to an Effective Marketing Campaign
ByThere are a lot of ways to promote your website online that don’t involve spending money on banner ads, tiles, or adwords campaigns. And in the long run, the no-cost methods are a lot more effective.
Why?
Because unlike TV or radio or magazines or newspapers or any other media, the search engines are not in the business of producing content for the sole purpose of selling advertising. Nor are they in the business of promoting businesses.
The best search engines only have one function: finding the best possible content for searchers. This is the one thing that a lot of business people just don’t get about the web. The search engines will always place relevant content, useful content, and helpful information above hype or blatant advertising.
Too often, I get business owners telling me that I have to write their website full of hype telling visitors all about how great the company is, how great the product or service is, etc. And they just don’t understand that they only have two customers on the web: the search engines and searchers. And both completely ignore that kind of nonsense. Neither cares.
People are looking for solutions to their problems; they aren’t looking for a particular product or service. And the best way to get to the top of the listings is with articles on your website that define problems and then explain solutions.
How to create an effective, free online marketing campaign
First, create a list of all the problems people could possibly have that your product or service can solve or at least alleviate. Then have a writer (like WordsmithBob) turn each one of those into an article or case study. Last, post them on your website and on article marketing sites around the web. You’ll have a goldmine of free publicity.
