Blog Commenting – An Easy “How To” For Tons Of Traffic
By
Blog Commenting – everyone knows they should be doing it but it seems time consuming and difficult. What if there was an easy way to do it?
A method that gets you in and out fast because the process was almost comletely automated? And still gets you tons of targeted traffic!
Well read on because I’m going to teach you how I do it…
First, your website should already have been search engine optimized. If that hasn’t been done, it’s going to take a lot of time and work for any blog commenting to be effective.
At the very least, you need to have one to four unique keyword phrases for each page of your website. You’ll know why in a minute.
Next, I want you to take a document and put a subhead for each of the primary pages of your website that you want to promote. Under each subhead, put the link to that page and the primary keyword phrases for that page.
Like this:
Page title: Online Marketing Products
Page link: http://wordsmithbob.com/online-marketing-products.html
Keyword phrases: Online marketing products, Minneapolis online marketing products, Internet Marketing products
Now go to Google Alerts and set up alerts for each of your keyword phrases. If possible, set up your email software so that any keyword Google Alerts go to a particular folder so you don’t have to go searching for them.
Also set Google Alerts up so that you only get the alerts once a day. You don’t want them constantly streaming in.
So after you have a few days worth collected, open the file and pick the first one. If it’s a blog or forum, follow the link. If not, move to the next one.
When you get to the post, see if it’s something you can add a valuable comment on. If so, do so. If not, look at some of the other posts for opportunities.
This is also an opportunity to do a little research and spying to see what’s hot in your community.
Okay. If you are going to leave a comment, you’ll have to fill out the little form. They’re all pretty much the same.
Pick the keyword phrase that page popped up for or you think is most appropriate and use it for your name. Next, fill in your email. Then for your website, copy and paste the link or URL for the page you took the keyword from.
That way, if someone clicks on your “name” to go to your website or the search engines deicde to follow that link back to your website, they’ll find a page that has that keyword phrase on it and is very relevant to where they came from. Big medicine for the search engines.
Here’s what it should look like:
Name: Online Marketing Products
Mail (will not be published) (required): bob@wordsmithbob.com
Website: http://wordsmithbob.com/online-marketing-products.html
Comment: Create a comment that is valuable and relevant. Don’t just say things like, “Wow, great post. I really learned alot. Thanks.”

Always sign your post. Bloggers actually prefer that because then they know who is commenting on their post. Nobody likes “mystery meat.” And it’s another opportunity for name dropping.
If you do this every couple of days or even just for a few minutes every morning or evening, pretty soon you’ll have tons of targeted traffic coming to your website or blog.
One last thing.
Keep rotating the keyword phrases and pages you use to sign off on your comments. If Google sees all links to your website going to the same old page with the same old keyword phrase, they’ll begin dropping you in the rankings. Keep it varied, keep it fresh.

Bob – Good article on blog commenting, which is very helpful to those of us who are trying to do more of this! It’s also good to know that it is best to sign the comments you post to the blog, which provides good feedback to the blogger, interesting responses for the reader and increased visibility for the person who leaves a comment.

Great post Bob. This is what I would like to read: A need, a solution and a step-by-step guide. One learns how to go about doing it. You’ve left no ambiguous point at the end.
Just one point to add: Sometimes, some blogs don’t let you use your keywords instead of your name. Don’t freak out! Use your name and as long as you write something interesting which attracts people’s attention, you will get the traffic you deserve.
By the way, you can also include your keyword under your signature at the end of the comment. This would be another way of showing to the readers, even if it’s not possible to inform search engines, what your blog is about.

Great point Rahman! I hadn’t thought of leaving the keyword phrase at the bottom of the comment. Thanks!
