Search Engine Optimized Web Copy or SEO Copywriting

I always get amused when I read articles on Search Engine Optimized Web Copy or SEO Copywriting. Most of the articles I find on writing copy for websites or writing web copy for SEO in newsletters written for business people are way off the mark.

Most of the articles are either rehashing old information or seem like they are written by people who don’t know what they are talking about. And that’s unfortunate because there is good information out there on SEO and search engine optimized web copy.

The problem is, it’s usually written for professionals like me. I read about this stuff all the time in newsletters such as High Rankings Advisor and Search Engine Marketer. But beyond that, because I’m a copywriter and my concern is not only can people find the site, but will they read it and use it when they do, I also read articles from UseIt.comby Jakob Nielsen, a usability expert, and of course, a regular regimen of books like “How To Persuade People Who Don’t Want To Be Persuaded” Search Engine Optimized Web Copy or SEO Copywriting by Joel Bauer and Mark Levy.

Now comes my sales pitch. I didn’t write this blog just to inform and elucidate. I also want to sell my services. For those of you who don’t want to do copy-writing or search engine optimization (SEO) for a living but want to know enough to do your own websites, I just created a new ecourse called, The Web Writing and Search Engine Optimization Twelve Week e-Course.

Okay, it’s not the most imaginative and “zippy” title I’ve ever come up with but it will do well with the search engines and it gets the idea across quickly. And that’s what writing copy for websites AND search engines is all about.
