Internet-Marketing-Gurus Internet marketing “gurus” are like ants on a sugar cube. There are hundreds of them swarming all over the Internet. And the vast majority of them are full of crap.

Now I’ll be the first to admit that there are some people out there who really know their stuff. But how do you tell whether you’re going to get a first class, up to date education in Internet Marketing or sold a bunch of old tired “tricks” that haven’t worked for years or are rehashes of off-line marketing ideas?

Here’s my bullshit detector:

Who are their testimonials from?

passing the baton is a great referral analogy As you may know, I’m a big fan of Jay Abraham. So when I’m looking for a new marketing idea, I often turn to his “Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You’ve Got” book.

Today, I was reading up on referrals. If you really are focused on customer or client satisfaction, this is a great way to leverage that relationship.

If you’re that kind of business person, sometimes it’s difficult to see the Return On Investment (ROI) from all that great service. Other than the customer or client coming back to you for more business. A formal referral system leverages or multiplies the essence of all that extra work you put into every customer of client.

As you may have read on other occasions, I’m a big fan of Jay Abraham. I was reading his book “Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You’ve Got” last night, and came across the chapter on risk-reversal guarantees.

You might be asking yourself what does that have to do with web copywriting or marketing? It has everything to do with it. Jay is a firm believer (as am I) that hype doesn’t sell anything. Hype as in hyperbole. Hyperbole is making unsubstantiated claims or using adjectives to describe your product, service or firm.
