Search Engines Are the Number One Source for Consumers Looking for Local Businesses
Posted by: | CommentsA friend and business associate just sent me a link to a press release by WebVisible and Nielsen/NetRatings Report about their investigation into how Internet users interact with advertising. In the press release, they claim that their results show that “search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN, and Ask have become consumer’s most widely used source to find a local business from which to buy“.
If you have a small business or derive a lot of your business from local customers or clients, you really need to read this report. As far as I’m concerned, the most important thing for you to note is that “Search engines are used by 73% of consumers when seeking local products and services — more than any other media type.”

Link Construction With A Quality Link Tool
Posted by: | CommentsLink construction requires you to put a lot of time and effort into building links. And just any links won’t do. They need to be from quality websites and blogs with related content and you want the links to have your keyword phrase as the anchor text.
And if you want to kick your competitor’s butt, you need a lot of them. And by a lot, I mean thousands.

No One Searches the Internet For Our Business
Posted by: | CommentsI’ll be honest. I really didn’t think any business owner still believed that. I haven’t heard, “no one searches the Internet for our business” in years.
But I had a call yesterday from a potential client who told me that they wanted a website copywriter to make their web copy more sales and marketing oriented. When I asked him about search engine optimization, he told me that the only people who visit their website are the people they send there for more information. “No one searches for our business on the Internet,” he told me. I almost choked.
They are an IT Services company. He told me that he had an IT Services firm before this one for 8 years and they never got a single contact from the website. I’m not surprised. If their site is burried on page 50 of the search engine results, why would anyone ever find them on the Internet to contact them?

Need Search Engine Optimization? Don’t get ripped off…

I don’t know about you but I get approached all the time by companies (mostly from somewhere in the Southwest) telling me they can get me first page listing on Google by search engine optimizing my website for me. Obviously, these morons haven’t even looked at my website or they’d know I DO search engine optimization.
What should that tell you? There are some pretty shady individuals out there offering to do search engine optimization. even worse, I’ve had people complain to me that SEO doesn’t work because they paid some firm thousands of dollars to SEO their website and nothing happened. Then I check the code and the copy on their website and it’s obvious that nothing was done.
